Battle for CFPB Control Leads to Lawsuit

Leandra English, the temporary acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau appointed by the director of the CFPB when he retired Friday, has filed a lawsuit challenging President Trump’s pick for the position. Trump named Mick Mulvaney, CFPB critic and Office of Management and Budget director, as the new CFPB director. English claims Trump’s appointment ‘unlawful,’ and she is the ‘rightful acting director’ of CFPB.
