US President Donald Trump has made a theatrical return to the White House to continue his treatment for coronavirus after a three-night hospital stay. Mr Trump, who is still contagious, removed his mask on the balcony of the White House, while posing for pictures. His physician said he would continue treatment from there, and he “may not entirely be out of the woods yet”.

Opposition in Kyrgyzstan Claim Power After Storming Government Buildings

Opposition groups in Kyrgyzstan said they had seized power in the strategically-important Central Asian country on Tuesday after taking control of government buildings in the capital during protests over a parliamentary election. President Sooronbai Jeenbekov said the country, which hosts a Russian air base and a large Canadian-controlled gold mine, was facing an attempted coup d’etat. Kyrgyzstan borders China and is a close ally of Russia.

Church of England Failed to Protect Hundreds of Children from Sexual Predators

The Church of England failed to protect children from sexual predators within its ranks for decades, allowing abusers to hide in an attempt to defend its own reputation rather than following its duty to protect young people, an inquiry said on Tuesday. From the 1940s to 2018, 390 people who were clergy or in positions of trust associated with the Church have been convicted of sexual offenses against children.

Anti-Virus Software Creator John McAfee ‘Detained at Spanish Airport’ over US Fraud Charges

Anti-virus software creator John McAfee has been detained at a Spanish airport after being indicted in the US on fraud charges, according to the Reuters news agency. McAfee, who designed software of the same name, was reportedly arrested in Barcelona on Saturday while boarding a flight to Istanbul using a British passport. McAfee, 75, is a famous libertarian who believes that tax is wrong and has in the past boasted of not paying his taxes.

More than 14m Tonnes of Plastic Believed to be at the Bottom of the Ocean

At least 14m tonnes of plastic pieces less than 5mm wide are likely sitting at the bottom of the world’s oceans, according to an estimate based on new research. Analysis of ocean sediments from as deep as 3km suggests there could be more than 30 times as much plastic at the bottom of the world’s ocean than there is floating at the surface.
