Huawei Facing More US Sanctions

The US is to increase restrictions on Huawei to try to cut off all access to American technology for the Chinese company. Huawei’s access to US components and technology, including Google’s music and other smartphone services, was cut off last year. Those penalties were tightened in May when the White House barred vendors worldwide from using US technology to produce components for Huawei.

Canada Finance Minister Resigns Amid Friction with Trudeau and Charity Scandal

Canada’s finance minister resigned on Monday amid friction with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau over spending policies and after coming under fire for his ties to a charity tapped to run a student grant program. Just last week, Trudeau had expressed confidence in his finance minister as rumors swirled of a rift between the two men. Morneau, 57, has been in the job since Trudeau’s Liberals took power in 2015.

Ex-CIA Officer Arrested for Allegedly Selling Secrets to China

A former CIA officer has been arrested and charged with selling secrets to China over several years, the justice department announced. According to the charges, the former US spy – identified as Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, aged 67 – conspired with an unnamed relative, also an ex-CIA officer, to sell secrets in return for tens of thousands of dollars and gifts. Ma was arrested on Friday.

3 ‘Ellen DeGeneres’ Producers out After Misconduct Accusations

Three senior producers at The Ellen DeGeneres Show have left the popular daytime talk show after some of the show’s leadership was accused of sexual harassment, racism and creating a toxic work environment, among other allegations. Last month, the show’s leadership team was hit with two rounds of allegations, including accusations of sexual harassment and misconduct against Glavin, Leman and Norman by 36 former employees to BuzzFeed News.
