Iranian Supertanker Released by Gibraltar

An Iranian supertanker has been released by Gibraltar on Thursday after being held for more than a month on suspicions it was trying to provide crude oil to Bashar Assad’s Syrian regime in violation of European Union sanctions. The Iranian vessel had been held in Gibraltar since July 4 and officials from the Islamic Republic have been demanding its release.

Israel Bars Democratic Congresswomen from Entering Country

Israel announced Thursday it was barring the entry of two Democratic US congresswomen after Donald Trump encouraged the move. Deputy Foreign Minister Tzipi Hotovely told CNN on Thursday of Israel’s decision to ban Reps. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan and Ilhan Omar of Minnesota from entering the country. The announcement came shortly after Trump said Israel would be showing “great weakness” by allowing them to enter the country.

North Korea Fires Missiles, Derides South Korea’s Moon as ‘Impudent’

North Korea launched at least two short-range ballistic missiles on Friday, South Korea’s military said, shortly after Pyongyang described South Korea’s president as “impudent” and vowed that inter-Korean talks are over. The North has protested against joint U.S.-South Korea military drills, largely computer-simulated, which kicked off last week, calling them a rehearsal for war. It has also fired several short-range missiles in recent weeks.

‘Hollywood Ripper’ Michael Gargiulo Found Guilty of Double Murder

Michael Gargiulo, nicknamed the “Hollywood Ripper”, has been found guilty of murdering two women. Prosecutors in Los Angeles painted Gargiulo, 43, as a “stone-cold serial killer” who preyed on women in planned attacks. He was also found guilty of attempting to kill a 26-year-old in 2008, who survived and testified against him. Actor Ashton Kutcher also testified, having arranged a date with one of the victims on the night she was killed.

Australian Tourist Shot Dead in Camper Van in New Zealand

An Australian tourist has been found shot dead inside a camper van outside the popular New Zealand surfing town of Raglan on the west coast of the North Island. The male offender fired a number of shots into the van where the 33-year-old victim and his 32-year-old Canadian fiancee were sleeping, after 2am on Friday. The shooter stole the van and drove around for an hour with the dying man inside.
