New Trump Rule Targets Poor and could Cut Legal Immigration in Half

U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration unveiled a sweeping rule on Monday that some experts say could cut legal immigration in half. The long-anticipated rule, pushed by Trump’s leading aide on immigration, Stephen Miller, takes effect Oct. 15. It would reject applicants for temporary or permanent visas if they fail to meet high enough income standards or if they receive public assistance such as welfare, food stamps, public housing or Medicaid.

Ebola could be Curable, Clinical Trial in the Congo Shows for the First Time

The preliminary results of a clinical trial using drugs to treat Ebola in the Democratic Republic of Congo have been promising enough to stop the trial and prioritize their use instead. Monitors reviewed how the first several hundred patients in the study were faring on Friday. Of the four drugs tested in the clinical trial, one of the most successful was developed by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals and the other by the National Institute of Health.
