Trump Says He will ‘devastate Turkey economically’ if it Attacks Kurds

President Trump has warned Turkey of economic devastation if it attacks Kurdish forces in the wake of the US troop pullout from Syria, while also urging the Kurds not to “provoke” Ankara. “Will devastate Turkey economically if they hit Kurds,” Trump tweeted, while pushing for the creation of a 20-mile ‘safe zone’. He then added: “Likewise, do not want the Kurds to provoke Turkey.”

Lion Air Crash: ‘Black box’ Voice Recorder Recovered

The “black box” voice recorder from a Lion Air flight which crashed off the coast of Jakarta in October has been recovered, said officials on Monday. All 189 people on board died when Flight JT610 fell into the sea shortly after taking off for the short journey to Pangkal Pinang. The voice recorder was found on Monday morning but was “broken into two pieces”. “Hopefully it’s still useful [to investigators],” Haryo Satmiko, deputy head of Indonesia’s transport safety committee (KNKT) told Agence France-Presse.

Polish Mayor Stabbed in Heart and Abdomen During Charity Event

Pawel Adamowicz, mayor of the Polish city of Gdansk, was stabbed in the heart in front of a crowd of thousands at a Warsaw concert for charity. The attacker, a 27-year-old man, shouted that he was doing it for political revenge. The attacker ran onto the stage with a knife and stabbed Adamowicz in the heart and abdomen, the Associated Press reports. He was resuscitated and rushed to a hospital where he underwent five hours of surgery. One of the doctors treating him told reporters he was in “very serious condition.”

1 Survivor, 16 Dead in Cargo Plane Crash in Iran

Emergency crews in Iran responded Monday to a cargo plane crash at an airport about 25 miles west of Tehran that killed all but one of the 16-person crew, reports out of the country said. The crew aboard the Boeing 707– which was hauling meat from Kyrgyzstan– declared an emergency and attempted an unscheduled landing at Fath Airport, which belongs to Iran’s famed paramilitary Revolutionary guard, reports said.
