Oil prices reached a four-year high of over $81 per barrel following the decision by Saudi Arabia and Russia to reject President Trump’s calls to increase production. While Saudi Arabia leads the OPEC cartel, Russia is the biggest oil producer outside of the group. Producers discussed increasing the output by 500,000 barrels each day.
The Italian government passed a law making it easier to deport migrants and take away Italian citizenship. Under the new law, migrants found guilty of serious crimes like assault and rape can be expelled from the country. Interior Minister Matteo Salvini called the new measure ‘a step forward to make Italy safer.’

Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein was reportedly summoned to the White House on Monday for a meeting with the chief of staff John Kelly amid speculation that President Trump may fire Rosenstein over a damaging press report. A 19-year old Indonesian lamp keeper survived 49 days at sea in a fishing hut before being rescued by a Panamanian-flagged vessel. Aldi Novel Adilang’s fishing boat was sent adrift when heavy winds caused the moorings to snap. Aldi ended up near the Pacific island of Guam – 1,500 miles (2,500km) away from his original location. Aldi had just a few days of supplies and survived by fishing and filtering water.
Russia will send new anti-aircraft missiles to Syria a week after a Russian aircraft was accidentally shot down by Syrian forces during an Israeli airstrike. Israel said giving the S-300 defense system to ‘irresponsible actors’ will enhance danger in the region. The Trump administration warned Russia that providing the system would be a ‘major mistake.’
