A magnitude 6.9 earthquake hit Lombok Island in Bali on Sunday morning, killing at least 91 people and injuring hundreds more just a week after another earthquake killed more than a dozen people in the same region. The earthquake damaged buildings as far away as Denpasar on Bali and triggered a Tsunami warning.

Trump’s comment is an admission that his team gave misleading information in July 2017 when Donald Trump Jr. said the meeting was primarily about the adoption of Russian children.
Saudi Arabia announced on Sunday it is ordering the Canadian ambassador to leave the country and freezing all new trade and investment transactions with Canada. The Saudi foreign ministry said it was employing the freeze in response to Canada’s ‘interference’ in the country’s internal affairs by calling for the release of women’s rights activists.
A vintage Swiss military plane crashed in the Alps on Saturday, killing all 20 people aboard. Officials say the plane crashed almost vertically at a high speed. While no official cause of the crash has been determined, the heatwave across Europe may have played a role. JU-Air has suspended all flights until further notice.
Six people were arrested in Saturday’s assassination attempt on Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. A drone attack took place in Venezuela’s capital Caracas as Maduro gave a televised speech at a military parade. Maduro blamed the attack on Colombia’s outgoing President Juan Manuel Santos and far-right elements. Those arrested are accused of ‘terrorism and assassination.’
The Russian Foreign Ministry announced the appointment of actor Steven Seagal as special representative to improve the relations between the US and Russia on Saturday. The role will include collaboration ‘in the sphere of culture, public, and youth exchanges.’ The foreign ministry compared the unpaid role to United Nations’ goodwill ambassador positions.
At least 3 NATO service members were killed on Sunday when a suicide bomber struck a patrol of NATO and Afghan forces near a large military base just outside Kabul. Violence took place across the country on Sunday as an Afghan soldier was killed in Jalalabad, and the Taliban continued assaulting Chinarto, in Uruzgan Province.
